What is Eryngium planum?

The Georgians collected the roots and cooked them in the same way as we might asparagus, but it was their reputed aphrodisiac properties that really got our ancestors going. The distinctly sculptured grey foliage displays curiously attractive flowers. Extra thick outer leaf layers cut down water loss helping them to flower whilst others may frazzle. Rabbit resistant. Prefers dry soil in full sun. Excellent for dried flower arrangements
